Snippet!! The Face Of A Perfect Flaw

Rana Lynn Jackson is a force to be reckoned with!

Straightening Edwin’s royal blue and black checkered tie that hung firmly around his collar Rana taunted, “Ed, Ed, poor little Ed. Let me say this in a way that your feeble little mind will understand. I never claimed to want you. I never promised you anything. You came on to me, you were dismissed. I’m a big girl. That measly show that you put on for me didn’t even fill up the seats in the audience. I wasn’t turned on by it not one bit. So with that being said, why would I hang it over your head? You did nothing to make me think there was a need to flap my jacks about you. I’m the CEO of this company, if I wanted you gone or embarrassed, I would have done that. I run shit here.”

Reckless Instinct Snippet!!

“My name is Simone, because I make the men moan. My real name is Simone, and I’m twenty five.”

“I’m Roxanne, my real name is Roxy and I’m eighteen.”

Damn, there was one who was even younger than I was. I was surprised at the ages that were giving to me. I kept working the room.

“My name is Riches, because I’m all about them Benjamin’s. My real name is Monica, and I’m twenty nine.”

“I go by Isis, my real name is Alexis, and I’m twenty three.”

I was done asking them all their names and ages…so I thought. Coming down the stairs with a red teddy on, with the matching see through robe and red slippers with the puff ball on the top, came a cigarette smoking, wine glass toting, long weave wearing, long eyelash batting, older woman. I was in awh, by the way this bitch had herself together. She was the prettiest of them all. All of the girls were pretty, but this one looked like she could have been a model in her past life. Her body was amazing; I couldn’t stop starring at her. She just started answering the questions I asked all of the other girls. I didn’t get a chance to say nothing to her. She said it in a very sassy tone.

“My name is Mercedes, I’m thirty five years old and there is no need to tell you my real name. I don’t know you and you don’t know me. You will learn my name as time goes by, and if and only if I grow to like you, and not a minute before.”

Hell, she left me speechless. Pisces had to jump in and say something.

Reckless Instinct snippet

While sitting in the bathroom, a text came through my phone. It was my mother. It read… Come get your shit right now! You need to move in with Dawn, Tom, Dick or Harry. You will not disrespect me or my house! I just dropped my head in disbelief. I couldn’t believe she was acting so outraged over something so pity. Well, hell, yes I could. It was nothing new, but this was overkill. If she wanted me out, then fine. Good thing I was planning to look for an apartment soon anyway… now, sooner than I thought.

Reckless Instinct

My mother marched into my room and leaned against the dresser with her arms crossed. I just looked at her. She wasn’t saying anything and neither was I.

“So tell me, what do you plan to do with yourself Phoebe?”

“Mom, you ask me this question at least once a week. My answer is still the same as it was before. I plan to get a good paying job and move out. Trust me; I don’t plan to live off of you guys for the rest of my life. As a matter of fact, I may have a new job soon; one that makes a decent amount of money.”

“You talk a good game, but no actions have been taking. How do you plan to make decent money without a degree or the experience? Nobody’s going to hire you without the skills or a degree Phoebe.”

I sat up on my bed to look her square in the eyes.

“Listen, just because I don’t have a degree or the experience for a job, does not mean I can’t obtain a good paying job mom. You act like I’m sitting on my ass doing nothing. I’m gonna show you better than I can tell you!”

“You better watch your damn mouth little girl! You will not curse me! I raised you better than that and you will respect me! Your brother is out at Duke making a name for himself and here you are kicked back on your bed like you don’t have a concern in the world. Next thing I know, your ass is gonna end up pregnant. I’m gonna tell you right now, me and your daddy aint about to take care of no damn baby.”

“Really J? First of all, you and I are not dating. Yes, we’ve screwed around a couple of times, but that doesn’t make us a couple. So don’t go putting titles on us.”

“Isis, are you serious? So I guess we’re friends with benefits? I look at you more than that. You couldn’t possibly think I’ve been chasing you for weeks just to have you as a friend. You’re old enough to know better than that shit.”

“J, how could you think that we are more than what we are when I barley wanted to give you the time or day to begin with? We went out on one measly date, and now you think we’re an item. That’s where you’re sadly mistaken.”

“Oh okay. Not only am I mistaken, but a brother sadly mistaken. Okay Isis, I see how you really feel about me.”

Snippet!! Foolish At Forty

We slowly stampeded over to the table. Times like this I need a man to pull out my chair for me. But there was no man, only these two bitches. I couldn’t sit down fast enough; I needed a cold glass of water pronto. My throat was drier than the Sahara desert. I removed my sunglasses and stuffed them back into my purse. Joann began to giggle at the sight of me.

“What’s so damn funny?” I asked with my lips turned upward.

“Girl you look like a deer caught in the headlights. Ooh-ooh, you really are messed up aren’t cha?”

I could have socked her dead in her pie hole. She’s the one who purchased the long island ice tea’s for me. All that extraness was uncalled for.

Foolish At Forty snippet!

I shook my damp hands dry as I placed a cluster of red grapes into a bowl for a snack. All I cared to do was slip my tired body into a pair of silk pajamas and situate myself in front of the TV. I had a mind to text J and tell him that I would have to postpone our date. I was not in the mood to occupy my time with J. But since I told him that we could go out, I thought I’d unenthusiastically keep those plans. It wasn’t that I didn’t like J, he was not the kind of man I would date at my age.

Foolish At Forty soon to hit shelves!
